My Review
5 *****
I would have to say that after reading this book it has hit a nerve in my heart. Emily Walker did an amazing job with the story line and the depiction of characters. Sometimes I just wanted to scream at Grace for putting up with her abusive boyfriend for so long, but when you're young you see things in a totally different perspective. Love is completely blind at that age, and when you mix in drugs and self-esteem issues it feels like it'll be the end of the world if you don't have that certain person with you.
In this book you see how Grace's somewhat normal life gets transformed into a world of danger and drugs. In comes new friends and new ways of life. I don't personally relate to Grace in this book because I was never into the drug scene, but with the way the story was written out I felt like I was right along with Grace and experiencing everything that she was and feeling the torment she felt at those low times. Long Road Full Speed Ahead is not a happy fairytale book. It gives you the inside scoop on how teens live their lives and the brutal reality of it all.
Emily Walker gives you a heartwrenching tale with Long Road and I wouldn't recommend this book for young readers. There are some intense situations that would require more mature readers. It's definitely a book worth reading.
